Richard B. Cheney is an American businessman, public servant as well as a politician. Cheney is a familiar figure in Washington's political landscape. George W. Bush who is set to become the next President of the U.S. will be Cheney's fourth. Bush chose Cheney in July 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate, being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney is a former chief of staff to presidents, served in Congress and was Secretary of Defense. Republicans and Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney has said that the position he will play in the Obama administration as of an honest but professional adviser to Bush. In accepting the Republican vice presidential nomination Cheney declared that he's looking forward to working with an administration that will strive to get things done by working across the political aisle and working alongside political adversaries in good faith and common purpose. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. In the age of thirteen Richard and his family moved from Nebraska to Casper where his dad was the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
